What is an intramuscular injection?
Intramuscular (IM) injection is the process of injecting drugs into the muscle layer.
Since the muscle layer is rich in blood vessels, the spread is faster than the subcutaneous injection method. It can be preferred for the drug should be taken effect very quickly, when the patient cannot take the drug orally, and the gastrointestinal plasters damage the drug content. It is applied to the dorsogluteal (posterior hip), ventrogluteal (lateral hip), femoral (thigh) and deltoid muscle areas.
